There are few relationships in fashion that have withstood the test of time—and the relentless grind of the biannual fashion week schedule—as well as the longstanding collaborative partnership between New York-based designer (and Michelle Obama favorite!) Tracy Reese and makeup guru Mally Roncal. At the fall 2013 Tracy Reese show, which just wrapped at the Lincoln Center tents at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, Mally Beauty teamed up with Reese to create a stunning New York City-inspired look—all dark, smokey eyes and flawless glowing skin—that encapsulated the essence of Reese's vision for next season.

Inspired by New York City's juxtaposition of harshness and beauty, Tracy Reese's fall 2013 collection pairs feral and romantic, sexy and severe, velvet and patent, and a palette of bold cerise and scarlet red set against a backdrop of genteel neutrals like tan and creamy lychee. Reese's autumn silhouettes are sharp and body skimming—all dramatic hourglass shapes, long linecurve-hugging skirts, and elegant tunic sweaters offset with a wardrobe of more substantial jackets and coats. Just like her customers, Reese's aesthetic reflects a timeless-yet-modern sensibility—a smart, strong, glamorous, New York City woman.

"She is the quintessential New York City girl. She's confident. She's fierce. Her look is inspired by her all-night jaunt. Whether she has been out all night with her girlfriends or just working the night shift. She's out feeling as proud and as fabulous as she did when she left the house. Skin is healthy, glowing, and artfully undone. Eyes are strong, heavily smokey, and certainly the focus,” says Mally Roncal.

Mally Beauty worked closely with Reese to create the perfect complementary runway beauty look—a smokey, dark eye with the brand's signature Smokey Eye Kit in "SoHo Silver," Black Evercolor Starlight Eyeliner in "Midnight," and the Evercolor Silk Eye Defining System in "Jet Black," perfectly poreless, gleaming skin, and a touch of pale, sheer pink on the lips with the brand's "French Kiss" signature lipstick.
